Why we went there?
Bangkok, Thailand was one of the routing sectors that we had as part of our RTW airplane ticket. Our first journey into Bangkok was to organize our visas for Myanmar. Our second visit was a stopping off point on our way to Chiang Mai, Thailand and the third visit another stop off point prior to travelling to Koh Phangan, Thailand. We were looking for low cost affordable accommodation Hotel, Hostel or Apartment to use as a transit for our South East Asia trips.

Why we chose it?
We heard about the Arize Hotel from a fellow travel blogger who raved about the price of the accommodation and the fast Wi-Fi. We were searching for hostels but each time the Arize Hotel came up cheaper with a better location. The hotel had great reviews in Tripadvisor and Booking.com. Another travel blogging couple also stayed there and gave it a good review. The location was perfect, close to the BTS station Phrom Pong. They had a double room with ensuite, TV, fridge, coffee making facilities, free Wi-Fi and a swimming pool.

What was it like?
From our very first visit we fell in love with the hotel and now it feels like home when we go and stay there. It is a boutique hotel, very clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bed is my favourite in the whole RTW year long journey, I just don’t want to get up in the morning, the bed is firm and the bedding is amazing, pillows are just right. The swimming pool is a bonus to chill out in and I have also used the small gym on one of our visits.

What was around it?
The Hotel is situated at Sukhumvit Soi 26 Road, which is downtown and close to all the action. There are supermarkets a few blocks away. There are many restaurants, bars, cafes and shops within walking distance. There are banks, ATMS, and a Post Office in the area. The BTS provides quick transport to any part of Bangkok. There are many tourist sights in Bangkok and they can be reached fairly easy from the hotel.

Would we return?
Yes. We have stayed there three times already and would certainly stay there every time we travel to Bangkok.

Cost? AUD60 Per Night

How was the Wi-Fi?
Wifi is excellent in the rooms, around reception as well as at the pool.

  • Thanks a lot for this post, very interesting! Although I’ve already reserved my next year for South America, I might also visit Southeast Asia briefly, namely travel to Bangkok in Thailand, and information about hotels really comes in handy! 😉
