Why we went there?
We were Greek Island hopping from Mykonos to Santorini and Paros was on the way. Paros was on our Greek Island Wish List. Blue Star Ferries travelled the route daily and it was an easy stop off on our way to Santorini where we were spending a month. The ferry cost was US16 per person and travel time one and a half hours.
Why we chose it?
Krotiri Bay had great reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com. It was close to the beach and the ferry port. As it was at the end of the season the cost per night was extremely good value and helped bring our European budget down after the high expenditure in Italy. They had a double room with ensuite available, swimming pool, Wi-Fi and amazing views over Paros. A fridge was in the room which would enable us to bring our budget down even further.
What was it like?
On arrival at the ferry port in Paros we were met by the owners. Along with other fellow travelers, we were bundled lovingly into their small car and driven through the village to the hotel on a hill overlooking Paros. Along the way we received tips about what restaurants to enjoy, where to shop and bank and ATM locations by the German owner. First impressions were wow. We had a double room with ensuite at the back of the property with an external balcony area. We were informed that we would be moved the next day to a room with balcony overlooking the pool at the front of the hotel. Once we had moved to our new bedroom we settled into a daily routine of breakfast out on our balcony overlooking the pool with views in to the port and town. Our late afternoon walks took us down to the beach, wandering around the small streets window shopping, and choosing an evening restaurant for dinner or checking out the local supermarket for dinner suggestions. Truly an experience. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The owners, Margaret and Kostas were very hands on and very proud of their property. They were very helpful and friendly assisting us in what to see and do around Paros.
What was around it?
Parikia the capital of Paros was a 20 minute walk into town down the hill and along the beach. The beachfront had great fish restaurants. Our favourite was Taverna Katerina where we had very fresh fish, Greek salad and beers overlooking the beach front.
There is a supermarket on the front that was reasonably priced. There are banks and ATMS available. Along the beachfront and throughout the small lanes behind there are many restaurants and cafes. The back streets are a photographer’s delight.
Would we return?
Yes. Best value, great location, friendly owners, perfect accommodation
Cost? Euros 27/AUD 39 per night
How was the Wi-Fi?
