About The Hotel Valencia Riverwalk San Antonio

Check out our Youtube video on the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk:

Hotel Valencia San Antonio

In 2017 a $10 million renovation by internationally acclaimed architect Lauren Rottet has created a unique luxury boutique hotel in the heart of San Antonio.  Rottet has blended Spanish Colonial architecture with the modern Mediterranean style and it works beautifully.  There is a ‘wow’ as you enter from street level, pass the impressive fountain and up the winding staircase to Reception.

Our check-in was easy even though the Reception area was busy.  The staff had time to explain to us the highlights of the hotel, the bar and Dorrego’s restaurant and what is nearby for sightseeing.  As we were a little early for check-in we enjoyed coffee in the lounge area whilst waiting for our room to be ready.

Stylish lounge for relaxation, coffee or a drink

The lounge areas create a sense of calmness and relaxation. The fireplace is ideal to sit and chat over a glass of wine or coffee during the day or night. In fact, the fireplace area was our favourite area.

Tuscan inspired balcony

Not only are you drawn to the fireplace but you are also drawn to the outside alfresco area that overlooks the Riverwalk and the San Antonio River.  The area is well-shaded from the heat of the hot Texas sun and reminds us of being in Tuscany. You can access the pathways of the Riverwalk from this area.

The Library

To the right of the Reception area is the library area.  The ideal area for reading the day’s newspaper or catching up on your emails or even holding a small meeting.

Bedrooms at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

There are 213 luxury rooms and suites.

Our luxurious bedroom

We stayed in a Classic King style room which was a perfect size for us to relax and work in at the same time.  Although, there is so much to see and do in San Antonio that we hardly spent time in our room.

Our room came with:

  • high-speed internet
  • 52 inch Samsung LED Smart TV
  • the most luxurious 100% Egyptian Cotton bed linen (our favourites)
  • a custom made very comfortable Hotel Valencia bed, mattress with boxspring
  • city views
  • executive workspace
  • iron and ironing board
  • mini bar
  • coffee maker
  • room safe
  • Luxury toiletries
  • plush thick white bath towels
  • plush his and her’s bathrobes

Continental Breakfast

Breakfast was included for us which we enjoyed in the bar next to reception.  Pastries, fruit and piping hot coffee were available. There is an option to have a full American breakfast at Dorrego’s.

Valet Parking at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

We highly recommend using the services of Valet Parking as parking is at a premium around San Antonio.  On arrival at the hotel at 150 East Houston Street ask for your car to be valet parked and once your bags are unloaded your car will be whisked way until you need it next. On our check out we did not have to wait long for our car to arrive. The process runs very smoothly and efficiently.  It saved us time and hassle in trying to find a parking station close by.

Wheelchair Accessibility at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

The hotel has a ramp for access from the street to the hotel for wheelchair accessibility. There is a lift to the Reception and rooms, just behind the water feature.

Dorrego’s Restaurant at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

Texan-themed tableware at Dorrego’s

Executive Chef Anthony Mesa has created an Argentinian-style menu in San Antonio that rivals any Argentinian restaurant back in Argentina.  The innovative menu created by Mesa uses the freshest local ingredients with influences from Spain, Italy, and France in the Spanish Colonial-designed restaurant. We loved the Texas-inspired tableware. You can choose to eat inside or dine al fresco out on the Tuscan-inspired balcony overlooking the Riverwalk.

You must try the desserts

In fact, our meal was the best we had in San Antonio. Dorrego’s offers vegetarian options as well as their speciality dishes of the day.  An extensive wine list was available. Try and leave some room for their scrumptious desserts on offer.
