Why we went there?
Koh Phangan, Thailand, was our final destination for our 2013/2014 RTW, we had planned a month in Koh Phangan to catch up on our Blog content, spend more time in one place and get our budget under control. We had initially booked and spent 8 nights at Coco Gardens, Koh Phangan but we could not extend as it was fully booked. For a change of scenery we booked 9 nights here over the Chinese New Year period which coincided with Duncan’s birthday.

Why we chose it?
We chose Lime and Soda because of the location on the beach close to Thongsala town. A beachfront bungalow with ensuite was available which included a TV, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Other facilities included a swimming pool, bar and restaurant and massage services. Lime and Soda had good reviews in and Trip advisor. We knew it would give us an alternative perspective to consider for the remainder of our time on Koh Phangan.

What was it like?
The Lime and Soda resort is clean and well maintained in all areas including the pool and the massage area. All rooms are serviced daily. The Manager Non is extremely helpful when we had issues with the Wi-Fi and appreciated feedback when given. The restaurant provides good quality meals.
Our initial thoughts was that it was overpriced for what you got, but we were in high season and our bungalow could have slept four easily with the two large double beds. Staying in the beachfront bungalow put us close to the bar which played music right through closing time at 12 midnight. Close by in town there is a karaoke bar that can screech out music till 2.30am. It does have one of the best massage locations overlooking the beach and listening to the waves whilst receiving a traditional Thai Massage at 300 Baht an hour.

What was around it?
A 5 minute walk into the town of Thongsala and you have several supermarkets, banks, ATMS, restaurants, bars and cafes. The ferry port is a 10 minute walk. There are plenty of agencies in town that offer bike and car rentals, onward ferry, bus or plane transport and local diving tours and day trips to the surrounding islands.

Would we return?
No. There is cheaper and just as good quality accommodation along this side of the Koh Phangan beach area. We would return to the area but would find accommodation of equal quality for lot less.

Cost? THB2000/AUD 69

How was the Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi worked better in the restaurant area. Our first few days it was quite slow and intermittent, it sped up when management increased the bandwidth but still not without issues. Our last 24 hours there was no internet at all.
