Pullman Cape Town Review: Stylish Comfort with Table Mountain Views

Our stay at the 5-star Pullman Cape Town City Centre perfectly combined modern luxury with the vibrant energy of one of South Africa’s most captivating cities. From the moment we stepped into the sleek, contemporary lobby, we knew we were in for something special. With stylish rooms offering breathtaking views of Table Mountain, exceptional service, and a prime location close to the V&A Waterfront, the Pullman is the ideal base for exploring Cape Town’s culture, cuisine, and coastal charm. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or a taste of urban sophistication, this hotel delivers it all in true Pullman style.

First Impressions and Check-In Experience at the Pullman Cape Town City Centre

Address: 38 Buitengracht St, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, 8001, South Africa

We chose to book a transfer directly through the hotel from Cape Town Airport, as we were arriving just after midnight.  Our driver was waiting in the arrivals hall to whisk us away in his comfortable air-conditioned car, showing us the nighttime highlights on the way.

Check-in at this late hour was quick; the staff were efficient and welcoming.

Our Room: Comfort with a View at the Pullman Cape Town City Centre

Our room was very comfortable with calming colours. The bed with its plush bedding was very comfortable, which is what we expect from a Pullman Hotel. As an Accor Platinum member, we received a welcome gift of South African wine, accompanied by nuts and macarons. The bathroom was spacious with luxurious toiletries. The shower cubicle was large with a rainfall shower.

We had a partial view of Table Mountain; unfortunately, it was blocked by an office block.

Dining at the Pullman Cape Town City Centre

Our membership with Accor comes with breakfast in the Executive Lounge.  We found out that breakfast is only available during the weekends in the Lounge. The breakfast buffet in the Stratus Room was substantial. Seating was available al fresco, offering views over the pool and Table Mountain, or you could choose to dine inside.  On all three mornings, it was hectic, and the staff found it challenging to keep up with replenishing dishes and topping up water in the coffee machines.

We chose to head to the V&A Waterfront for dinner each evening we were there, rather than eating in the hotel.

Amenities and Facilities at the Pullman Cape Town City Centre

A fitness room is available, but since we had three full days to explore, we didn’t have time for a workout.

We headed to the Executive Lounge after our first full day to enjoy cocktails and canapes. The Hotel employee who checked us in gave us the wrong time for the lounge, and by the time we arrived, the Lounge had run out of canapes and sparkling wine.  It was a disappointing experience; a bottle of sparkling wine was finally produced, along with a small hot dish for us both to enjoy.

Tour Desk

The Tour Desk was very helpful in arranging a private day tour of wine tasting after our booked tour was cancelled at the last moment.  The Tour Desk also handled both of our airport transfers. They offer a range of tours for their guests.

V&A Waterfront Shuttle Bus

The Pullman Cape Town City Centre offers a shuttle bus service to the V&A Waterfront. The drop-off and pick-up locations are very central. We felt safe wandering around the V&A Waterfront, knowing we had transport back to the hotel.  You do need to book the shuttle.

Safety in Cape Town

The staff are concerned about your safety whilst wandering around Cape Town.  Let them know where you are going, and they can assist you with the most direct routes, as well as provide guidance on what to do and what not to do.  We took the shuttle bus because we felt it was the safest way to visit the V&A Waterfront.

Conclusion: The Perfect Stay in Cape Town

Our stay at the Pullman Cape Town City Centre was the ideal mix of city sophistication and laid-back charm. For travellers seeking modern comfort, exceptional service, and unbeatable location, the Pullman Cape Town stands out as one of the city’s finest stays. We recommend this hotel for solo travellers, families and business travellers.
