Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok – 5 Star Luxury Review [updated 2024]

Are you looking for a 5-star hotel in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road for your next stay? This is our 5-star luxury review of the Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok.

We have had the Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok on our wish list for a while.  As members of the Accor Group, we have so many choices of hotels in Bangkok but the opportunity arose on this trip to spend 2 nights at the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit.

We were thrilled to be able to spend our 2 nights there and we booked the Club Millesime (Executive Lounge) to enjoy a true luxe stay. Time to spoil ourselves for two nights. Was it worth it? That’s a big yes!

Check out our Youtube Video on what it is like to stay on the Executive Club Floors at the Sofitel Bangkok

What makes the Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok so special?

  1.  Location. Sukhumvit is the best place to stay in Bangkok. It has excellent shopping, lots of restaurants and bars, and easy access to the BTS to get around Bangkok and if you are after nightlife this is the area to be.
  2.  Luxury Accommodation. If you are after luxury accommodation the Sofitel brand always comes to mind first. Sofitel Bangkok offers luxurious decorated and styled 345 rooms and suites, beautifully decorated and with stunning views over Bangkok.
  3.  Sofitel Bangkok’s Executive Lounge Club Millésime on the 31st floor offers the freshest local ingredients in their Thai and International cuisine with a touch of French flair. Afternoon tea is available from 2 pm to 4 pm and evening canapes and drinks from 5 pm to 7 pm.
  4.  Sofitel’s tropical oasis swimming pool and Liquide Pool Bar – we love the chilled vibe and the lush surrounds of the pool area
  5.  Staff at the Sofitel Bangkok – from doormen, concierge, reception, dining establishments and around the pool and gym, the service has been excellent.

Our Accommodation at the Bangkok Sofitel Sukhumvit Executive Lounge Club Millesime

On our arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown directly to the lift that would take us up to the Club Millesime (Executive Lounge) for our check-in.

Our luxury club room at 40 sq. mt had everything we needed with large windows on two sides with magnificent views over Bangkok. Block out curtains were welcome not only for the sunrise but to try and acclimatise ourselves to a new time zone too!

The bathroom was large. Luxury Balmain toiletries were provided. It was good to see that single-use plastic has been done away with at the Sofitel Sukhumvit.

The room came with a safe, mini-bar, robes, ironing board and iron, desk, lounge chair and small coffee table. Complimentary high-speed WiFi, Bose audio system with a blue tooth dock and a LED TV  and Espresso Coffee Machine gave us all the creature comforts we would need during our stay. The room gave a chic cheerful vibe with its colourings and decor.

The king-size bed, Sofitel’s signature MyBed, was extremely comfortable and we adored the luxury cotton sheets. Their motto “there’s a night sleep, then there’s a night to remember”. So true!

Canapes and Cocktails in the evening at Club Millesime

We arrived just before 5 pm from our Sydney flight and in time for the evening canapes.  So much to choose from with delicious salads, cheese, hummus, fruit, nuts, fish and chicken savoury dishes, bread and a range of delicious cakes.

The evening cocktails included Margaritas, Mojitos, Rose Garden (Signature Cocktail), Ginger Sour and Red Dress. Red and white wine from Chile and France and Sparkling Wine from Italy. A nice touch was at closing time (7 pm) staff came and offered us more complimentary drinks and told us that we could stay as long as we wanted. We took them up on their offer and enjoyed the evening lights of Bangkok twinkling below.  It was such a relief not to be rushed from the Club Lounge and to enjoy it a little longer.

Breakfast at Belga Restaurant

Breakfast can be held in the Club Lounge but there are more options upstairs at Belga Bangkok.  There is interior and exterior seating, the latter having great views over Bangkok. If you think it may be too hot sitting outside for breakfast, try it, we had a lovely cool morning breeze both mornings at breakfast.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best we had with so many choices from Asian and Western hot food options, all your favourite egg options, fruit, pastry items, cereals, juices and great coffee.

As Bangkok is like our second home and seeing we had two nights booked here at the Sofitel before relocating to another hotel in another area, we spent the day in the gym and around the swimming pool.

The gym on the 9th floor was well-equipped with all that you need for a good workout.

The swimming pool located also on the 9th floor is a tropical oasis. A glass of chilled water was provided with towels as we arrived and shortly after complimentary fruit smoothies. There are plenty of sunbeds and sunshades available.

The Liquide Pool Bar offers a range of drinks and snacks.  A popular time is to head to the bar at sunset for that well-deserved ‘sundowner’ after a day of sightseeing or working.

Club Millesime provide a range of delicious sandwiches and Asian dishes during afternoon tea between 2  and 4 pm.  If you have a sweet tooth there are some of the tastiest cakes and biscuits to enjoy as well!

After a short rest, we headed back to Club Millesime for evening canapes and cocktails. Such a great selection of both. If you are a bread lover, try the freshly baked bread! You won’t stop at just one slice!

Late check-out was arranged for us on the next day so we had the opportunity to spend a few more glorious hours at the pool before packing.

Final Words

Our stay at the Club Millesime Executive Lounge was all that we had expected and more. The Sofitel Sukhumvit Bangkok is truly one of the best hotels in Bangkok to stay. There are so many Malls close by to the Sofitel and having access to the BTS so close as well the location is perfect.

Our stay was very comfortable.  The cuisine at the Executive Lounge for afternoon tea and evening canapes was excellent.

We thank the staff for looking after us so well and we look forward to staying with you again when we next are in Bangkok.
