After spending 3 days in Cairo, Alexandria was our destination on our 3 weeks travelling Egypt. We were excited to visit Alexandria and to stay in the historic Paradise Inn Le Metropole.
We travelled with Egyptian Edu Travel who organised for us a driver and an Egyptologist for our travels in Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan and Abu Simbel.
If you are interested in travelling on a private tour with guide and driver we can recommend it. Why? We were not rushed from site to site, we could depart the hotel and arrive back when we wanted to. We have an experienced driver and Egyptologist who assisted us with tickets, toilets, tipping and local knowledge.
We have a special offer for our readers – if you book your travel through Egyptian Edu Travel and quote TTT2024 there is a 5% discount available.

Check-in at Paradise Inn Le Metropole
What a delightful check-in. After travelling up from Cairo and visiting the St Makarious Monastery, the Catacombs and Pompey’s Pillar we were ready to check in to the hotel and relax for the night in their rooftop restaurant and bar – Skyview.
We were served a refreshing cool drink, croissants and small cakes before we were taken to our room that overlooked the Med. Such a beautiful hotel with classical oldie worldly decor reminiscent of the time of construction during 1902.

We had booked the Golden Superior Room Direct Sea View and balcony with light dinner and breakfast included for our 2-night stay.
We loved the original lift still in operation in the hotel. The corridors and reception areas are all tastefully decorated in classical furnishings. As you wander to your room you feel that you have stepped back in another era.
Our room was delightful. Classic blue and golden hues furnishings complimented the antique furniture.
The ornate blue and gold tiled spacious bathroom enhanced the luxurious feel of the room.
Toiletries, slippers, bathrobes, hairdryer, kettle, TV, air conditioning and plenty of electrical sockets were available in our room.
The view from the small balcony over Alexandria and the Med was stunning. Sunsets and sunrises were magnificent from our balcony.
Skyview Restaurant at Paradise Inn Le Metropole Alexandria
After dropping off our bags we headed to the rooftop Skyview Restaurant and Bar. Below Alexandria shimmered in the early evening, the road busy and the trams noisy as they carried their occupants back home. Being so close to the ocean gave us a feel of spaciousness and the air was certainly cleaner than Cairo.
After a few Sakara beers, we headed downstairs to the Restaurant to enjoy our light dinner. Not quite sure why it was called a light dinner, there was so much food and variety available it was more like a feast. Hot dishes, soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps just to name a few items.
The buffet breakfast was enjoyed in the Restaurant the next two mornings. Breakfast was ample with Western and Egyptian hot and cold options available, fruit, croissants, cereals and juices.
The second night we opted to eat at the Skyview Restaurant. An experience that one should not miss. Another night of great views, an excellent French and International menu and great service made our stay at the Paradise Inn Le Metropole a memorable experience.
