We chose to stay at the Steigenberger El Tahrir Hotel in Cairo before heading off to Alexandria and staying at the wonderful historical hotel Paradise Inn Le Metropole.  For our time in Giza visiting the pyramids, our long-term bucket list was to stay at the Marriott Mena House in Giza and to choose one of the better rooms with the best views. Our dream came true! We could not have asked for a better room or a better experience.

After leaving Alexandria that morning with our private driver and Egyptologist from Egyptian Edu Travel we stopped at the new Grand Egyptian Museum a few km away from the Marriott Mena House. The Grand Egyptian Museum was not fully opened during our visit but we were able to spend an hour visiting with our guide.

Check-in at the Marriott Mena House Giza – the best hotel in Giza

Address: 6 Pyramids Road, Giza (a ten-minute walk to the main ticket entrance of the Giza Pyramids)

Good to know: there is a short walk from where your transport drops you off to the entrance of the hotel. Once at the entrance you and your bags will go through a security check. This will occur every time you enter the hotel.

Check-in was quick and efficient.  We were shown to our spectacular room with 180-degree views over the grounds of the Marriott Mena House to the Pyramids.  It was certainly an ‘aaaaahhhhh’ moment.

What a way to wake up in the morning! As we opened our eyes from our luxurious king-size bed the Pyramids of Giza shimmered in the early morning light.

Our room was large measuring 35 sq m with a sofa/coffee table and desk area.

The bathroom was spacious and we loved the Acca Kappa toiletries.

The mini bar was stocked and we enjoyed the bottles of complimentary water, a Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle with tea and coffee available.

The decor was reminiscent of the furnishings used in most Marriott Hotels we have stayed in. Muted brown decor items, dark wooden furniture and white high-quality linen and towels.

A fresh fruit platter and some local Egyptian pastries was very welcome after a long drive from Alexandria.

There are plenty of sockets available for us to charge all of our equipment.

Facilities at the Marriott Mena House Giza

After settling into our room we wandered the grounds of the Marriott Mena House.

The gardens were beautifully manicured. The swimming pool is large and inviting.

There were plenty of dining and bar options to choose from for dinner on our first night:

  • the 24-hour 139 Pavillion Restaurant
  • The Moghul Room for Indian Cuisine
  • The Alfredo Italian Restaurant
  • The Pool Bar
  • The Lobby Lounge
  • M Club Lounge

We dined at the Moghul Room. Our dishes were tasty and flavoursome and the service was excellent.

Breakfast is served in the 139 Pavillion Restaurant. The buffet consisted of Western and Egyptian hot and cold options.

There were plenty of cereal, pastry, fruit and fruit juice options.

Good to know: If you are sitting outside be sure to cover your food with your napkin if you are going back to the buffet. The local birds are quick to jump on your plate and start devouring what you have left.

The 2nd night we dined at the 139 Pavillion Restaurant. Again, a great menu and good service. We enjoyed a solo Swirling Dervish performance.

The Marriott Mena House has the Saray Spa which unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy. If you have time the Gym is well-equipped.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Marriott Mena House in Giza, Egypt offers a luxurious and unforgettable experience.  With its stunning views of the Great Pyramids, impeccable service, and top-notch amenities, this hotel truly stands out as a gem in the heart of one of the world’s most iconic destinations. We would definitely stay here again.
