Hotel Review Pavillon Winter Palace Luxor Egypt

The Pavillon Winter Palace in Luxor is located in the beautiful tropical grounds of its sister hotel Sofitel Winter Palace. Apart from sharing the lush tropical gardens the Pavillon Winter Palace shares the swimming pool too.

All rooms have balconies with views over the gardens and the pool. Its location is perfect for visiting Luxor Temple just five minutes away. Luxor Airport is located 25 minutes away.

We had spent the previous 3 nights at the Sofitel Winter Palace but as there was no availability for our 4th night in Luxor we booked the Pavillon Winter Palace.

Check-in at the Pavillon Winter Palace Luxor

Gardens of the Pavillon Winter Palace
Gardens of the Pavillon Winter Palace

It was just a short stroll through the gardens from the Sofitel Winter Palace to the reception at the Pavillon Winter Palace. Check-in was fast and efficient. We were fortunate that our room was available mid-morning for us.

Our room was bathed in sunshine as I opened the door and headed towards the balcony to enjoy the view.

Our twin bedded room (double room was unavailable at the time of booking) was modern and spacious. Colourings of greys, browns and cream were used in the furnishings.  The room size was 25 sq m. The room had a mini bar, fridge, complimentary water, free wifi and LCD TV. There were plenty of electrical sockets for charging our equipment.

The bathroom was spacious with luxury toiletries.

Good to know: they do not supply tea and coffee-making facilities which we thought was odd. We did ring Room Service and requested coffee.

Dining Options at the Pavillon Winter Palace

Le Bouganvillea
Le Bouganvillier

We enjoyed breakfast the next morning on the terrace at Le Bouganvillier on the ground floor of the hotel. The buffet was excellent with a large choice of Western and Egyptian dishes, fresh fruit, pastries, breads and more.

The swimming pool is heated. The staff are very attentive. On arrival, they are quick to supply towels for you. The pool is quiet during the day as most guests are out sightseeing and can get a little busy after 3.

The manicured grounds are a delight to walk around.  You may even see some of the locals – the flamingos and colourful peacocks.

Conclusion

Both hotels are different and would appeal to various guests. We are glad that we were able to enjoy both of the properties. The Pavillon Winter Palace is modern and if modern hotels are your preference you would book this one.

The Pavillon Winter Palace has an added bonus of all rooms have balconies overlooking the pool and gardens and it less expensive that the Sofitel Winter Palace.
